Fore Tracer ("we", "our", or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we access, how we use it, and your choices regarding your data.
By using Fore Tracer, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
Data Collection
Fore Tracer is designed with privacy in mind. We do not collect, transmit, or store your personal data on external servers. All data you create in the app stays on your device.
- No account required — You do not need to create an account or provide any personal information to use the app.
- Privacy-respecting analytics — We use TelemetryDeck, a privacy-first analytics service, to collect anonymous usage data (e.g., which features are used). No personal data, IP addresses, or device identifiers are collected. See the Analytics section below for details.
- No data shared with third parties — Your videos, photos, scores, and projects are never uploaded or shared unless you choose to export and share them yourself.
Device Permissions
Fore Tracer may request the following device permissions to provide its features:
- Camera — Used for the AR Rangefinder feature to measure distances. Camera data is processed on-device in real time and is not recorded or stored by the app unless you initiate a recording.
- Photo Library — Used to import videos for tracer editing and to save exported videos. The app only accesses media you explicitly select or save.
- Location — Used optionally by the AR Rangefinder and course search features. Location data is processed on-device and is not transmitted to any server.
You can revoke any of these permissions at any time in your device's Settings app.
On-Device Data Storage
The app stores the following data locally on your device:
- Tracer projects (video references, tracer paths, overlay settings)
- Round tracking scores and statistics
- Saved course selections
- App preferences and settings
- Exported video thumbnails
All of this data is stored in the app's sandboxed container on your device. It is not accessible to other apps and is removed if you delete Fore Tracer.
Analytics
Fore Tracer uses TelemetryDeck to collect anonymous usage statistics. This helps us understand which features are popular and where users encounter issues so we can improve the app.
TelemetryDeck is designed to be privacy-first:
- No personal data is collected — no names, emails, or account information
- No IP addresses are stored
- No device fingerprinting or cross-app tracking
- No advertising identifiers are used
- Data is aggregated and cannot be traced back to individual users
Examples of anonymous signals we collect include: app launches, feature usage (e.g., video imported, export completed), and sport mode selection. You can learn more about TelemetryDeck's privacy practices at telemetrydeck.com/privacy.
Third-Party Services
In addition to TelemetryDeck (described above), the app may connect to Apple's App Store services for in-app purchases or app updates, which are governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. No advertising or data collection services are used.
Children's Privacy
Fore Tracer does not knowingly collect any personal information from children. Since the app does not collect personal data from any user, it is suitable for users of all ages.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
